pub & design hdg

The Poetry Box® is a boutique book design and publishing company that specializes in poetry and anthologies, as well as single-author poetry collections, memoirs and novels.

Publishing a book can be a daunting process, especially after so much effort, time and energy has gone into writing the manuscript/poetry. The publishing landscape is shifting rapidly between traditional publishing companies, small indie presses and self-publishing paradigms. It can be a very confusing and often costly endeavor for those who simply dream of seeing their work in print.

Therefore, we offer an affordable hybrid solution which can be equally rewarding to both the author and the publisher. Writers and poets are freed-up to spend time in their craft – creating more art for the world to enjoy – while we lend our experience and expertise to take care of the design and publishing details for you.

Please note, we are not a “vanity press” that publishes anything and everything. Those interested in publishing their poetry book with The Poetry Box®, must first submit their completed manuscript/collection of poems for approval, along with a $20 reading fee. Once we decide we’re interested in publishing your work under our imprint, a formal contract outlining all the specifics will be signed by both parties before production begins.

If for some reason we choose not to publish your work under our imprint, we may offer our design services to you for publishing under your own imprint (and yes, we can help you set that up too).

Any questions and/or submission of manuscripts can be directed to Shawn Aveningo via email at Once we’ve received your manuscript, we will email you a Paypal invoice for the $20 reading fee. We look forward to reading your work and bringing your words to the world.
