Chrysalis

by Luna Moore Latorre

Chrysalis is about the relationship between the changes in the natural world and those of the author’s inner world. The poet explores three major themes: the difficulties she faced with letting go of her past, her relationship to loneliness and solitude, and her observances in Nature that help her accept the necessity & inevitability of change as it relates to personal growth. These poems span various geographic locations (Portland, Los Angeles/Orange County, Miami, and more), different periods of her life, and opposing emotional states. Her poetry reflects the dual nature of life rather than only being focused on one side of the emotional spectrum.

Early Praise:

“Luna Moore Latorre takes us on a tour of grief, love, and wonder in this arresting debut, which calls to mind the work of Ada Limón or Mary Oliver. Humor and loss commingle memorably in these pages. Latorre’s at the start of a bright career.”

—Robert J. Peterson, author of The Odds and Strong Bones

“These poems give us the keen and celebratory observations of such a thoughtful and appreciative participant in the world. Brimming with feeling and a delight at the power of language.”

—Aimee Bender, author of The Particular Sadness of Lemon Cake and Willful Creatures
