Heirloom Eyes

by Rhea Grove

Heirloom Eyes is a poetry collection that explores themes of separateness, wildness, inheritance, play, creativity, home, love, and the relationship between human beings and the natural world. In essence, it is about the heritage of finding your place in the world. The tone oscillates between exploratory, optimistic, deeply skeptical, and ambivalent, all of which culminate towards a place of acceptance with not knowing; but also joy and passion in the unending exploration of what may never be known. The setting takes place in Central Oregon, where the author lives, and interacts curiously with the river, birds, and other creatures living nearby. She hopes that through this book, the audience might feel at home in the ambivalence of what it means to live in a world where important concepts are hardly ever set or pristine, but most always, and especially in good company, can be quite beautiful.

Early Praise

Rhea Grove is a poet who obviously finds joy in words and in the quirks of animals and humans. People need to have fun reading poetry, and for this I would send them to the radiant poems in Rhea’s Heirloom Eyes. We also need to think more deeply about what goes on in our lives, another reason to read these beauties.

About the Author
