Wild Heart

Poetry & Photography by Patricia Cannon

In Wild Heart, Patricia Cannon has created a book of conversations between her poems and her photography. These are not ekphrastic poems, but instead each poem and photo were created independently. The reader will enjoy discovering new layers of meaning between the two artforms as they “eavesdrop” on each of these “conversations.”

Early Praise

Patricia Cannon’s artistry is deeply intertwined with her life experiences and faith. Her images and words invite readers and viewers to explore emotional landscapes, offering a tender yet powerful glimpse into moments of beauty and reflection. Her ability to transform personal experiences into universal truths, accompanied by the emotional depth of her photography, makes Patricia Cannon a unique voice in both the art and literary world. Through her lens and pen, she sheds light on the beauty and fragility of the human experience.

—Sophia Alvarez, Barbagelata Contemporary Art Foundation

Through her photography, Patricia Cannon reveals the extraordinary in the ordinary. Her photographs, with their unusual angles and lighting, transform commonplace objects into compelling works of art. The resulting images are both beautiful and thought-provoking.

Since she joined the Fusion Art/Light Space & Time family in early 2024, we have seen Patty’s photography blossom, culminating in a well-deserved solo exhibition, a testament to her skill and a recognition shared by only a select few of our artists.

—Valerie Hoffman, gallery director, Light Space & Time Online Art Gallery

Patricia Cannon’s photography carries a quiet, mesmerizing strength. Her ability to infuse visual stillness with emotional resonance is rare, each image feels like a whispered poem, rich in mood and meaning. We at Grey Cube Gallery were proud to showcase Patty’s work and watch as her artistic voice continued to evolve. Her photographs are not merely captured, they are felt, lingering in the mind like a line of verse. Her book is a natural progression for an artist whose creativity bridges both image and word with grace. This collection promises to move and inspire.

—Adrian Sterling, exhibition curator, Grey Cube Gallery

Patricia Cannon brings to her writing experiences from her everyday life and focuses on special, small moments that others often miss. Even when the subject matter is sad, there is always optimism and faith in her pieces, which reflect her inner world. I especially appreciate how she likes to dedicate her poems to individuals she knows from work or met in her personal life. Her poems are a gift not only to them but also to the reader. As a photographer, Patricia comes with creative ideas and themes, and always tries to display interesting, unusual perspectives.

—Gal Slonim, editor-in-chief, Beyond Words Magazine

I’ve been truly honored to review Patricia Cannon’s work. Both of her poetry and photography have appeared in Plant People, An Anthology of Environmental Artists published by Plants & Poetry. Her contributions have brought vibrant color and life to our collections. She’s captured the stillness of the natural world, and the rush of a writer lost in thought over a cup of tea. I trust readers will find joy in each moment she shares with us.

—Jamie Nix, agroforestry scientist, editor at Plants & Poetry
